Niall Ó Ceallacháin 16th April 2025 team report

As we move from League towards Championship opener next weekend, Dublin Senior Hurling manager Niall Ó Ceallacháin reflecting on the league reiterates that the objective of the League campaign was two-fold, namely to win games that would lead to promotion and also to give opportunity to a lot of lads.

“We achieved one out of two here”, explains Niall, “And In terms of giving lads opportunities, we’re happy with having done that and we now have a good sense of where we are as we lead into Championship with over forty players used during the League”.

Niall continues, “All eyes now turn to Championship. What happened in the League will be soon forgotten, and that’s the reality. Everyone now is very much looking forward to Championship and our first game on Saturday against Offaly. This will be a big challenge for us against a team who are very much on the up, a team that beat us in the League this year and are now promoted to Division 1A so we’re in no doubt as to the challenge ahead of us”.

And Dublin are looking forward to it according to Niall. “We’ll be in our home ground, Parnell Park for our first Leinster Championship fixture and we feel we’ll be in good shape for it. So we’re really looking forward to the challenge and starting off well in Parnell Park to give us a good platform from there and the lads are hoping to see big Dublin support getting behind them in Parnell Park for this opening fixture”.

Regarding the Leinster Championship generally, Niall says that Dublin will be taking it week by week. “We’ll be very focussed on our first day out against Offaly”, says Niall, “and we won’t be looking past that game. We know this thing comes very quickly, the turnaround times between games are short, generally one week. So we’ll be treating it on a week by week, game by game basis”.
