Niall Ó Ceallacháin 6th May 2025 team report

With two wins out of two in Championship to date, Dublin’s Senior Hurlers have been focussing on the next game which is away against Antrim this coming Saturday.

Dublin Manager Niall Ó Ceallacháin gave us his view on the next day out.

This is an away game up in Corrigan Park which is always a huge challenge for anyone going up there”, said Niall, “They’ve had great results there, even with ourselves two years ago when we drew up there, so we’re under no illusions as to the level of the challenge that awaits us”.

Niall continued, “That was evident last week when they played Kilkenny up there. They were a point ahead at halftime and should have been more ahead realistically. They were still well in that game with 15 or 20 minutes to go. So it will be a challenge and following their early results they’ll be eyeing up this game also to get their show on the road so we’re in no doubt about that and what we’re facing up there on Saturday”.

Looking to Dublin’s strengths, Niall said, “But we’ll be ready. We have a lot of players in our dressing room well used to this challenge, to going up there to get a result, be it in either league or championship. We’re looking forward to the challenge. Training has gone well since the Wexford game. We welcomed the two week break and we’ve used it to get some quality work done that you’re not able to do when there’s just a one week turnaround. So we’re happy with where we’re at and looking forward to Saturday and we feel that we’re in a good place”.

Congratulating Dublin’s U-20’s on their quarter final win at the weekend, Niall said, “Congrats to Dublin U-20 hurlers on reaching Leinster semis after their fine win against Offaly. There’s a bit of rising momentum at the moment for Dublin hurling with Minor, U-20’s and Seniors all performing well recently. Great to see all that success and serious momentum being built and hopefully this rising tide will lift all boats. So a great win for our U-20’s and we’ll be hoping to follow in their footsteps this Saturday”.

Commenting on the support again as a major factor, Niall acknowledged the part the Dublin crowd played in getting behind the lads in the recent Wexford game, “It was great to see”, said Niall, “And the lads really appreciated it and I hope we bring a crowd to Corrigan Park on Saturday. I understand that Friends of Dublin Hurling and Camogie are organising buses to and from the venue but anyone going needs to book before Thursday”.
